A new smart traffic management pilot has been introduced in selected parts of Colombo to improve movement during busy periods. The project uses real-time traffic analysis and adaptive signal controls to reduce waiting times.

Authorities believe the system could significantly improve travel times during peak hours if expanded citywide. Road users have been advised to follow updated lane guidance and digital traffic signs where available.

Technology experts say the long-term success of the project will depend on reliable data, proper maintenance, and integration with public transport planning.
